Carrier Grades

Carrier grade medals are able to be lost and gained, depending on your performance.

A landing will be graded with points, according to tactical paddles discord bot grade:

  • cut | 0 pts
  • — (no-grade) | 2pts
  • (OK) (fair) | 3pts
  • OK (good) | 4pts
  • OK (excellent) | 5pts

A point must be subtracted if:

  • The airframe was damaged in the landing.
  • The pilot had a bolter of his own fault.
  • The pilot ignored the LSO wave-off call with enough time to react.
  • The abeam distance was more than 1.5 nm or less than 0.9 nm (5460ft).
  • The pilot impeded traffic with a mistake or inaccuracy.

NO points are deducted for wave-offs!

A point must be added if:

  • Wind over deck less then 15 knots
  • The crosswind component over deck (compared to final bearing) exceeds 5 knots.

No points are subtracted for a wave-off, but points subtracted for other reasons during that approach will be applied to the next trap.

Only one point may be subtracted for each final. Only one point may be added for the whole landing sequence.

There are four pilot grades:

  • Grade D - 1 pts average. (expected from ensign)
  • Grade C - 2 pts average. (expected from lieutenant)
  • Grade B - 3 pts average. (expected from commander)
  • Grade A - 4 pts average.

You drop a grade if you get below the average of the grade below yours, so this should not happen.

The average is taken from the best 4 landings out of the last 5.
